As a regular frequenter of some of
these sites I thought I'd compile a list of sites that are both fun and
helpful, whether it be finding an alternative phone number, free kindle
books or finding fun things to watch and read, I think I have a list
that almost everyone will find at least one thing useful or helpful.
I
use this site a lot as it says on the tin really, you can check whether
it is your Internet connection or not working for everyone.
Humming
a song and can't for the life of you remember what it is? This is the
site for you, it can detect humming & singing, so it no longer
has to irritate you for the rest of the day.
Tall Tweets lets you write tweets that are longer than 140 characters.
The tool will slice and publish your "long tweet" into multiple chunks
of 140 characters, or you can even publish the entire
message as an image in a single tweet.
This site lets you download free Kindle books.
Don't
know what to make to eat? input the ingredients you have here and it
will find a recipe for you. So you don't have to throw out or go buy any
more food.
Want to know what time should you go to sleep? Input the time you want to wake up, and it tells you
when you should hit the sack.
Another
favourite of mine if you're an avid Amazon buyer you need to use this,
I'm constantly keeping an eye on my wishlist of items to monitor the
price if you spot a good price you can check Camelcamelcamel to see
previous lowest prices and whether the current price is any good.
Addicted
to social media and need to stay off to meet an important deadline or
just want a little downtime, this is perfect, block the sites you can't
resist going on, it gives you a warning if you go on too much.
You can find definitions of slangs and informal words, its worth a browse just to find out what funny things people say.
See
an interesting article on the way to work but don't have time to read
it, with one click,
Instapaper lets you save, read, and manage the things you find on the
Internet.
Save all of the interesting articles, videos, cooking recipes, song
lyrics, or whatever else you come across while browsing . It also syncs
the articles you save so that they’re waiting for you on all your
devices whether it be you iphone, ipad or Kindle. You can read anything
you save, anywhere and anytime you want, even offline.
Stumble
Upon is the easiest way to find cool
new websites, videos, photos and images from across the web. based on
your preferences but beware this is the ultimate tool for
procrastinating I have literally stumbled across so many interesting
reads. I love this cute post.
Like a site and want to find one similar or find an alternative site to one you know is no longer going to exist.
Another
procrastinator here maybe this post should come with some sort of
disclaimer. You can watch all sorts from how would we survive on Mars?
How do birds know where to go when they migrate? How do we mishear
lyrics? All the things you've probably always wanted to know without
knowing it, well now you can.
I
use Grooveshark to listen to songs I haven't heard in ages or create an
awesome playlist to listen to whilst I'm working or cleaning ( right now
it consists of Destiny's Child, J Lo, Beyonce, Usher, Pharell
& Snoop Dogg, yes I'm that cool) you don't have to sign up, just
find your favourite songs and play.
Need a quick relaxing break, listen to wave sounds for two minutes.
Love using GIFs, find the exact one you're looking for on Giphy a search engine just for GIFs.
Enter a book you like or author and the site will analyse a database of
real readers' favorite books to provide book recommendations and
suggestions for what to read next.
Need I say anymore, I think the pictures do the talking.
Another
site I use a lot. Every company nowadays seem to have a premium rate
telephone numbers, so if you want to ring up a company without the hefty
phone bill I can't recommend this site enough, you can normally find
freephone numbers or landline numbers to ring instead.
Have a spare ten minutes play this see if the genie can guess who you're thinking of.
Hope you enjoyed my list and find a few new sites to bookmark. |
